The Legacy Robe
Professionally, the Legacy Robe is a tradition begun in 1950 in which an ensemble member with the most Broadway credits receives a robe on the opening night of a Broadway musical. At Floyd Central, the legacy robe was instituted in 2012 as a way to honor an exemplary member of the mainstage musical ensemble. Legacy robe recipients must be junior or senior students in the ensemble, who demonstrate exceptional attitude, leadership, character, and embody what it means to be a student who chooses to THRIVE. The Legacy award is given once in the fall and once in the spring, and is chosen collectively by the directors and the previous recipient.

His wife Bette choreographed dozens of mainstage shows at FC, and it is an honor to award this scholarship in his memory. The Tom Weatherston Scholarship is given in honor of Tom Weatherston, the first ever theatre teacher at Floyd Central High School. Under his direction, the first play was presented at Floyd Central High school in 1968, entitled “Mrs. McThing.” He also directed shows at our sister school, New Albany High School. It is because of his hard work, dedication, and passion for the arts that our community has such incredible theatrical education and cultural significance. The recipient must have participated in the Performing Arts at Floyd Central High School and is continuing in the Performing Arts in their secondary education. The Clay Wrege scholarship awarded in the amount of $1,500 from the Clay Wrege Charitable Foundation is to honor the memory of Clayton Reed Wrege. The award will go to the individual who exhibits the greatest zest for life, coupled with the God-given ability to charm their way out of manufactured mischief.
