Awards and Honors

Educational Theatre Association

The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) is an international nonprofit organization that serves as the professional association for theatre educators, as well as the parent organization of the International Thespian Society. Their mission is to shape lives through theatre education, by honoring student and teacher achievement in theatre and enriching their educational experience.

We have received the following national honors from EdTA:
THEATRE IN OUR SCHOOLS OUTSTANDING IMPACT AWARD - 2022
Recognizes the hard work of troupes who advocate for the importance of Theatre in Our Schools in their school, in their community or school district, in the media, and with policy makers. Given annually to four schools in the nation.
OUTSTANDING SCHOOL AWARD
Given annually to a maximum of twelve high schools (up to three per region) with theatre programs that exemplify and promote high standards in educational theatre. 

International Thespian Festival Mainstage

Every summer, thousands of student thespians from all around the world travel to the International Thespian Festival to celebrate and learn about educational theatre! A select group of shows are chosen each year to perform on the Fesival Mainstage, the highest honor for a high school theatre production. We at FCTA have a rich history of performance and have been honored with this opportunity eighteen times! Listed below is the history of our Mainstage Performances:

International Thespy Awards Competition

The International Thespian Excellence Awards (or Thespys® for short) recognize the highest level of achievement in school theatre performance, technical theatre, writing, and filmmaking. This educational program celebrates the work of theatre students, giving them the opportunity to receive constructive feedback on prepared theatrical material, technical design, plays, and short films, and recognizing their achievements on local, regional, and international stages. The following students have received a SUPERIOR rating at the International Level.

Edinburgh Fringe Festival - Scotland

The Fringe is a three-week festival of performing arts that takes place in Edinburgh every August. Its story dates back to 1947, when eight theatre groups turned up uninvited to perform at the Edinburgh International Festival. Today, the Fringe is world's largest arts festival, with over half a million people in attendance annually. FCTA is honored to have performed at the festival many times throughout the years, serving as ambassadors for the State of Indiana.
