The mission of Floyd Central Theatre Arts is to create a space where students THRIVE!
Transform into their full potential |
We want students to become all that they can be, by recognizing honoring their successes, learning from their failures, and consistently striving for excellence in their work and art.
|
Handle challenges with grace |
Life is full of stress, roadblocks, and difficulties. Our goal is to train students to respond to the unexpected with grace, patience, understanding, and resiliency.
|
Receive quality arts education |
By providing an inclusive and well-rounded educational experience in the classroom and on the stage, students will build essential skills, understand professional expectations, and foster a culture of self-discipline, accountability, organization, leadership, and positive time management.
|
Increase their love of the performing arts |
We recognize the life-making difference that the performing arts can have on a student's life. We also recognize that a majority of our students will not pursue professional careers in the arts. Our hope for the time that they are here is that a love, appreciation, and respect for the arts is fostered in them, so they become life-long patrons and participants in the arts.
|
Value empathy and different perspectives |
By acting as different characters and experiencing varying stories, students learn about the variety of human experiences. Our goal is that students walk away with empathy, kindness, understanding, and respect for all people in our community.
|
Encourage and celebrate community |
Through group performance tasks ranging from class projects to major productions, students learn to collaborate with humility and inclusiveness. All roles are important and vital in the theatre, which models a community where everyone is welcome and has something to offer
