Who is eligible to audition?
Any Highland Hills Middle School student, any 3rd or 4th grade student enrolled in a Southern Indiana elementary school. Voices need to be unchanged voices (soprano/alto). NO EXCEPTIONS
Audition Workshop
Audition workshop will be held at Highland Hills Middle School from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, August 2nd. The workshop will take place in the HHMS choir room. HHMS students may stay after school and wait in the choir room. Other students who want to come to the workshop, please do not come to the school until 4:00 or after. We are asking you not arrive until after 4:00 to keep you from getting in the HHMS dismissal traffic after school. The workshop will allow all those that attend to learn the audition music and learn the expectations for auditions. Everyone who is auditioning is encouraged to attend. You do not have to attend the workshop to auditions but it is strongly encouraged.
Auditions
Auditions will be held at Highland Hills Middle School on Thursday, August 8th from 4:00 until we are finished. Auditions will be held in the HHMS Choir room. Students are asked to go to the Orchestra room and sign-in. You will need to have a filled-out the online Audition Form. We will take pictures of each of the students auditioning. You will need to have the required audition song prepared and ready to present to the audition panel. (Food Glorious Food measures 27-35 as marked on the music). Students will be auditioned in groups based on the order they are signed up. We ask that the HHMS students audition starting at 4:00 and outside students not come to the auditions until 4:15 to avoid the HHMS dismissal traffic.
Call Backs
Call Backs and Dance Call will be at HHMS on Thursday, August 15th from 4:15-6:30. A list for call backs will be posted on Monday, August 12th. Call Backs will be only for major rolls (Oliver, Dodger etc.). Dance Call will be for everyone that we call back for the main orphan ensemble.
Cast List
The final cast list will be published on Monday, August 19th. Music rehearsals will begin on Tuesday August 20th. A complete rehearsal schedule will be given to all cast members for music, choreography, and blocking rehearsals.
Concert Style
Our production will be staged in a “concert style,” meaning the show will be sung and acted but staging will be minimal. Most cast members will be seated onstage for the entire show and will not have much or any movement. A select group of cast members will learn choreography for a few of the dance numbers. This group will be indicated on the cast list.
